DIR 3 KYC is a mandatory e-form that must be filed by all directors who have been allotted a Director Identification Number (DIN) in India. This form is required to update your KYC (Know Your Customer) information with the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
All DIN holders, regardless of their status as qualified or disqualified directors, must file DIR 3 KYC every year.
Every individual who is allotted a DIN as on March 31st of a financial year must submit their KYC on or before September 30th of the immediately next financial year.
For financial year 2019-20 onwards, every Director who has been allotted a DIN on or before the end of the financial year, and whose DIN status is 'Approved', is mandatorily required to file form DIR-3 KYC before September 30th of the immediately next financial year.
If a director fails to file DIR 3 KYC within the due date on the MCA 21 portal, the department will mark their DIN as 'Deactivated due to Non-filing of DIR-3 KYC'. This can have serious consequences, including restrictions on business activities and legal penalty of Rs.5,000/.
