Every LLP requires at least two individual designated partners, with at least one residing in India. The LLP's agreement outlines who these partners will be. They are responsible for managing the LLP's affairs and ensuring compliance with the LLP Act.
To change designated partners, the LLP must pass a resolution and file necessary paperwork with the Registrar of Companies.
Becoming a designated partner requires a valid Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), a Designated Partner Identification Number (DPIN), and a consent letter. DPIN is similar to a Director Identification Number (DIN) for companies. Anyone over 18 can obtain a DPIN. Indian citizens, non-resident Indians, and foreign nationals can serve as designated partners.
